It doesn’t feel quite like summer until the 4th of July comes around. After almost 2 weeks of rain, Tuesday July 4th, 2023 finally looks like the beginning of boating friendly weather! The buzz of local boating enthusiasts and tourists from all over come to the lake that day with very similar expectations and business of Memorial Day weekend but with a bonus feature; fireworks. One of the biggest prides and traditions held on Lake Wallenpaupack, coordinated by the Chamber of the Norther Poconos and funded by  local community businesses. Lighthouse Harbor Marina has honored the tradition of being amongst the top, Platinum, sponsors of the fireworks for over a decade!

Safety Tips:

Boating accidents are most likely to happen during holidays due to the surplus of boats out more than usual on the lake! Don’t be in a rush to get to and from the fireworks show. Drive slow, especially in the evening hours to avoid crashing into other boats, incase people or objects are in the water. Fireworks are distracting, so other boats may not be paying attention.

  • Plan Ahead! Get to your viewing location about 2 hours early, especially if settling by the main fireworks viewing area!
  • Respect the safety and No Wake Zones (max 5 MPH).
  • Make sure your boat lights are working and bright enough!
  • Have a fire extinguisher on board, just in case of stray fireworks or other accidents.
  • Keep an eye on local weather! Lake/Mountain weather can change rapidly.
  • Known your destination and how to use your navigation systems, to avoid looking down and getting distracted to prevent accidents.
  • LOTS of boats will be attempting to leave the main fireworks viewing area, on and off the lake, at the same time! Drive back with caution.
